Fourteen years ago, I received the letters Dr. Jerry Galloway wrote home from the Congo. As I read them, I dreamed of going there. As I wrote the book, "Courage in the Congo," I dreamed of going there. Now, that dream is about to come true!
I will go to the Congo in September with a fantastic team from the Friends of IMCK board (we support IMCK health care operations in Congo) and members of ITEC, whose goal is to power missions worldwide. You can go to www.itec.org to read about their outstanding volunteer work. I will capture photos of the people, country, needs, and challenges they face and share them when I return.
We will be about 150 miles from where Dr. Jerry Galloway served in Kalenda in the Peace Corps. To follow in his footsteps in this small way is a blessing and honor. I could have never dreamt that when my brothers and I stood next to Dr. Jerry (about 40 years ago) that I would travel to the Congo.
To learn more about the life-saving work IMCK doctors do at the Good Shepherd Hospital and PAX Clinic, please go to www.imck.org. Please keep the team and me in your prayers as we travel and spend time with our partners at IMCK.
