Two more members agreed to cut a field. The area they received had dense brush and trees. The young men usually did not chop down the trees for more than two hours a day and perhaps only four days a week. When they grew tired, they grabbed their fish lines and bows and arrows and headed into the forest. They stayed there for hours, days, or even weeks. They did not worry about the future because both God and the rainforest always provided for them. The Batwa believed the provision would continue. They did not realize that the wild game population and the fish had steadily diminished.
