Father Mike Reyes wrote an 8-page letter of his memories of Jerry and his work in the Congo.
"I first met Brother Jerry Galloway during our annual retreat. He was wearing khaki pants and chemise with a big silver cross hanging around his neck. He introduced himself to me as a former member of the Peace Corps in Kasai and added that he was a hippie and atheist until he met a CICM brother who had marked him so much that he became a CICM. (This is the Catholic mission organization that Jerry entered).
Jerry was a confrere who lived fully his mission in life. He exemplified the love of God that goes beyond differences. His story as the Big Brother of the Pygmies certainly will be told and retold to the next generation of Pygmies in the region. Through Jerry, they have been loved and appreciated with their indelible dignity as children of God. Jerry certainly showed the Pygmies that they are worth loving and they have an equal place in society." – Father Mike Reyes
