As I wrote “Courage in the Congo,” I prayed that I would find a way to help the people in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Two days after publication, the Friends of IMCK (FIMCK) invited me to join their board! Our mission is to support the work of the Christian Medical Institute of Kasai (IMCK), a health care and medical training institute in DR Congo.
IMCK started in 1954. They have added a lab technician school, nursing program, a 160-bed hospital, nutrition programs, research and medical internships, outpatient clinics, a dental program, and specialized services in surgery, ophthalmology, maternity, and pediatrics.
FIMCK was founded in 2011 to create an endowment fund, and now the earnings supplement IMCK. FIMCK is composed of people who have a heart for the work done at IMCK. FIMCK has a partnership with the Medical Benevolence Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization. This partnership allows donors to give tax-deductible donations to the Endowment Fund.
Go to www.imck.org to learn more about IMCK (history, personnel, operations) and FIMCK (purpose, board member listing). You can donate to the endowment directly on the site!
