In March, I was back in Kinshasa, not by choice but a necessity. I had to have the recurrent squamous cell carcinoma removed from my left eyebrow. Due to many delays, I was still in Kinshasa in April, much to my chagrin. I woke up at 11:00 p.m. one night and did some reading. When I got up to get water, everything went black. The next thing I knew, I woke up lying on the floor. An ambulance took me to the CMK hospital. While in intensive care, they gave me two transfusions. I received two more on Monday. An echograph showed a "mass" in my upper abdomen. They told me I must go to Belgium for an endoscopy and biopsy.
I thought about the banner in our den at home. It has a curved road running from top to bottom, and Dr. Tom Dooley's saying, 'I have promises to keep and miles to walk before I sleep.' I prayed, "You completed the mission the Father gave You. Give me at least two years to finish the task You gave me. You cannot abruptly abandon the least of your brothers and sisters."
