I left for Pendjua in early December. By then, I experienced a drastic amount of weight loss. I am uncertain if the loss is due to being unable to eat or due to lymphoma. I ate three full meals in the previous two days, and I felt strong but continued to need more rest. If the weight loss were due to lymphoma, then the second series of cancer treatments I will take will help.
When I arrived, the boys from the homes came streaming out to shake my hand and hug me. I came to tears. Many villagers came. "I returned even though I'm not completely cured," I told them. "I promised you I would not go to America, and I'd return even if the treatments did not cure me. My village is here. My parents, brothers, sisters, children, and friends are here. When the time comes, my burial will be here." The people went wild and clapped and sang.
