Too Small To Be Seen

In early November, I went to Ngondo Banga. Luba and I examined stool samples and found ninety percent were positive for hookworms, roundworms, and whipworms. People surrounded the table, and each one looked through the microscope to see the worm eggs. They all asked for worm medicine, but I refused to give them any. Before they received treatment, each family needed to dig an outhouse to use. The people grumbled that they had to wait. I knew that without improved sanitation, they would continue to get re-infected by worms.
